With the 18th September ebbing ever closer it’s great to see Rugby Town Centre coming alive with activity.
All around the town workers are repainting bollards, refurbishing car parks, hanging banners and generally working hard to spruce up the town in readiness for the world cup celebrations and expected increase in tourism traffic.
We are doing our part by supporting and organising some of the events around the fanzone, finding accommodation for the staff that are brought in to man the event and by refurbishing our shop frontage and dressing the window in a local Rugby theme. We aim to represent all the local Rugby clubs if possible and want to thank those that have donated shirts, balls, tees and more!
Personally I am really excited about the tournament, not just from a fan’s point of view but for the town, the local businesses in it and the future of the Rugby Town “brand”. We need the local people to pull together and look at the massive positives that Rugby offers businesses and residents alike and take the “spirit of the game” far beyond the raising of the Webb Ellis Cup at the end of the tournament.
Well done Rugby, Good luck England and let’s have a great world cup!
